Moderate Muslim Kicked Out of Mosque for Saying Islam is Peaceful

Jamal Miftah wrote a letter to the editor of the Tulsa World Newspaper “Message of Islam is not jihad, fatwahs” where it was picked for publication. His story was then aired by local television news. And now national news outlets. In his letter to the editor of Tulsa World Jamal, a 45 year old Pakistani living in the United States since 2003, outlined that violence is not a part of Islam and reminded all Muslims that Islam is a nation of peace. For his efforts Jamal was forced out of his Mosque and was asked not to return until he takes back his article and issues an ‘apology’ to the Muslim community. Jamal has refused. More of Jamal’s story is also at Little Green Footballs.

The courage exhibited by Jamal Miftah is a rare exception exhibited within the world of Islam. But the question needs to be asked… why were Jamal’s proclamations of peace and non-violence so rejected by his Mosque and his Imam? Why were Jamal’s declarations of Islam being a religion of peace and tolerance, were they so reviled that his own clergy chose to banish him and ostracize him?

Clearly, Jamal Miftah, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, being a new resident of the United States of America was just trying to help bridge the gap between Islam and the West. (The West meaning all infidels of any religious bent or strain). And in his own way, he was naively attempting to distance himself from the actions of the perceived ‘lunatic fringe’ of his own religion. His intentions were honorable, and his motives were pure. Here was a man just trying to get on with life, and get along with others while he abided by the Laws of the Land and integrate with American society. To raise a family and work hard to earn a decent living. Isn’t that what we all want too?

Apparently Mr. Miftah, was not entirely & fully briefed on the agenda of his own religion of Islam. And by voicing and expressing his own opinion, via a Column to the Tulsa World Newspaper, he had unwittingly committed the greatest sin of all…… He had ‘assumed’ that he was speaking for all Muslims and he had assumed that he was representing his Faith!

It is ironic, that CAIR (The Counsel on American-Islamic Relations), continually blasts anyone for even remotely suggesting that Islam is not peaceful and CAIR litigates relentlessly in the courts to receive damages from those who would ever dare to defame Islam. Is it not peculiar then, that when Mr. Jamal Miftah is seemingly Championing that very same cause, which CAIR so defiantly defends, he now suddenly finds himself on the ‘receiving end’ of hate from his own?

Either Mr. Miftah is not aware of his own religious belief-system, or he has been severely duped! (I tend to go along with the latter). Jamal Miftah is one of many Muslims who have been ‘going along with the flow’, and not once had ever seriously analyzed the contents of his own Qur’an. For if he had investigated it, he would have noticed that the Qur’an was a veritable wealth of inconsistencies, numerous descriptive passages on how to disembowel the Infidel, and send all unbelievers straight into Hellfire.

The conundrum which faces all Muslims of good heart and cheer, is not that a few ‘extremists’ are committing violent acts of atrocities in the name of Islam…… it is rather that, the source and inspiration for such acts of this extremism is coming directly from the teachings of Muhammad himself in the Qur’an.

This is an issue, which all Muslims must eventually face and ultimately deal with. I know of no other religion, on Earth, which teaches that you must kill anyone who does not adhere to your faith. Furthermore, I know of no other religion, which openly issues Fatwa’s when you decide to leave and unconvert. To leave Islam is much like trying to leave the Mafia. It just isn’t done!

Mr. Miftah has two choices here. He must forget his good conscience and apologize for ‘insulting Islam’; or he must abide by his convictions and suffer the threats and ostracizing by his Mosque. Neither choice is pretty, and neither choice is truly an answer. If anything, it tells us of how manipulative and heavy-handed the Imams are in dealing with their own followers.

This is Classic intimidation! And I sincerely hope that Mr. Jamal Miftah stands his ground. Unfortunately, the success rate of such moral steadfastness, in the face of Islam, usually ends up with a slit throat in the middle of the night, and your daughters being raped.
